I have prepared a letter for Australia’s Federal Minister for Trade because I am still very upset about some video footage I saw on http://www.animalsaviors.org over a week ago.
This is a video that documents the skinning of live animals for their fur. I am in the process of collecting signatures to submit as an attachment to my letter, but I wanted to get some support from others who are too far away to sign my petition.
 

I know that there are cultural issues surrounding this practice, but other countries have led the way and actually banned the farming of fur, because they could see how dreadful and unnecessary the whole business was.
Consumer pressure needs to be applied from the ground up, to gain the understanding of those nations who are totally blind to the delivery of such torture.
 

Please when you have a quiet moment up your sleeve, open up my attached letter and have a read. It is 3 pages long and will take you about 5 minutes to read.
If the graphic detail upsets you, skip past the italicised text and just read the upright print.
If I could get email responses from you all in support of what I am doing, I will copy and paste the text only into a separate word document to add to my submission. Unless you object and advise me otherwise, I will use your first names only and your country of residence at the bottom of each response in the document.
 

I suggest that you do not watch the video until you have read my letter. The evidence is really horrific, and if you are passionate about the welfare of animals, you may be moved to tears and lose sleep over it.

I am totally sickened by the video I have just seen. I cried the whole way through and could barely watch. I know I should not be surprised, as extremely cruel practices from around the world keep coming to our attention, but how anyone can have no regard at all for another creature’s pain and suffering is completely beyond me. What these people do is totally unacceptable, what the hell is wrong with the human race.
I don’t know if you’ve already sent the letter, and if you have I hope it brings the attention it should. If not, please add me to your petition.

I never have & never will wear fur – I dont even “fake it” as I wouldnt feel comfortable in it – the only way fur looks good is on the animal that it belongs to. I still cant believe this goes on in 2008. There is NO excuse. You cannot use culture as a defense or reason for cruelty. I think the best thing to stop this IS public awareness – when I talk to people about this act they do not belive me or think I am an emotional animal exaggerater……..stands at pet expos etc are a fantastic way of getting the message out there. God help those who commit animal cruelty

I have been around for a long time and I have seen a lot of things. Yet I tell you all the truth, I was horrified and so shocked that I was shaking when I saw those 2 videos.

It is absolutely disgusting and shows a side to humanity that is so vile and so abhorrent that it really is unbelievable. These people are sick and dangerous.

I encourage everyone to get active in this cause and unite to fight against these practises. In the words of Albert Einstein: “The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”

I am ashamed to be part of the human race when I saw what they do to poor defenceless animals, this must be stopped. Please help us to eradicate this most digusting procedure.

At the moment with the Olympic Games in Beijing not far away, China has

I too, want to do whatever I can to save animals from such shocking, sickening torture and cruelty… but how?

Even if you boycott the olympics, the chinese economy etc, it is the people at the ground level that do these things, it is a big job, but you have to educate people and show them the worth of the life, that pain and suffering is felt by every living thing, and that they deserve to be treated with respect.

Although I feel completely lost and helpless… like the rest of you I will NEVER give up trying. Even 1 animal saved the suffering is worth it. Be great if we could save them all!

Today on the news I saw a video clip of two marines casually throw a puppy into the air and onto rocks and joke about it, it brought tears to my eyes even though it may not be real. The fact that someone thought that such an act made for entertainment sickens and disgusts me, I hope they lock them up and throw away the key! The video footage on your website still has me crying and I so want to believe that it can’t be real however China has proven over and over again that they have no regard for human life or animal life. Cultural differences aside, no animal deserves to be treated like that, to be skinned alive and left to die a slow and agonising death. Our dogs are part of our family, if anything happened to them I would be devastated and to think that another ‘culture’ would find it OK to skin them alive makes me absolutely furious and ashamed to be human.

I’ve signed the petition, sent the link to friends and I’ll be boycotting the Olympics as well.

I too couldn’t watch the video. Iam so repulsed and upset by the evilness of humans! I feel so sick at the thought of the amount of senseless cruelty in the world, I can’t make sense of it. The world is out of control. People are so cold. I signed the petition and pray for a better world everyday. There needs to be far tougher laws on people who harm others or animals. These people make me sick, there is no need what so ever for this. China you are shitting in your own nest here no tourists from any civilised country will ever visit you you or buy your products knowing that this is what you do to helpless animals. I can’t believe I just watched the video of these poor animals being tortured. I never knew that anything so cruel and disgusting even existed!! I used to think that chinese people were lovely. Now I’m racist. We need to make more people aware that this is happening. These fur products are available from gift shops and local markets. This has to stop. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing. Please everyone, spread the word and lets try to stop this cruel and barbaric torture happening!! If you see these items in stores, please speak to the manager about it. We can make a difference. I have signed the petition, please ask all your friends and family to do the same.

This disgusting trade exists because there is a market for it. Spread the word that the fur covered animal or whatever else you are buying in the shop is made from a real animal! It is ironic that people who buy these products usually do so because they love animals – they are totally ignorant of how the product is produced and would no doubt be horrified if they knew.
Strike at the heart of this insidious practice. Visit the stores that stock these products and ask them if they are aware of the practices that take place to produce the products they are selling. If they are, then tell them politely that you won’t shop there again unless they stop supporting such terrible cruelty. Tell them (also politely) that you will be spreading the word to your animal loving friends that their shop supports a despicable trade where millions of animals are tortured to keep it going.
Congratulations to Jackie Caruso for taking on the huge task of dealing with the Australian Government in tackling this issue. It makes me proud to be an Australian when I know my fellow Australians are willing to stand up for injustices against animals regardless of where they are in the world.

Thank God I am not there while they are doing this because I would skin those chink bastards alive, step on their throats, and stab them in each major arteries, leaving the knife in them so they can die a poor painful death and make them watch as I do it to their family. But that’s just a beginners thought of what I’d do to them. Lets stop this so i don’t have to pause my live to take a trip to do something like this.

I want to say first of all I am a Chinese myself and I don’t condone these actions that the Chinese use to skin the dogs and cats alive. I would always say I am proud I am Chinese and also proud I am an Australian as well since I am born here.

I once owned a dog and we, me and my family, treat her as our own family member unlike the Asian countries where animals are been seen as pests and a “lower being”. My vision is to change this culture and that in the long term we see a dramatic change of attitude towards animal cruelty.

I will continue to do my part and be aware of this and carry me on in my everyday life not forgetting this is one of the motivations to better myself and be able to make an even greater donation in the future.

For my part, I read clothing labels and refuse to buy anything even made in China. Unbelievably difficult, as you all probably know. Nothing against the Chinese people, but I can’t even imagine supporting a government that allows the live skinning of animals on their shores, never mind the human rights violations we rarely hear about.

I’ve had pets my entire life — everything from fish to birds to cats to dogs, and my current little beastie, a hamster. I could not imagine harming a single gill, feather, or hair on their bodies because I was taught to respect all creatures, great and small. Changing views is probably the most difficult task to take on, and telling the Chinese this activity is wrong will take strong, intense pressure from governments around the world.

As a side note, they sure do love their pandas, which we ALWAYS hear about on the news. How about sending some of that love towards the other animals that reside in their filthy zoos? To the cats, dogs, and raccoons that suffer at the hands of a human being who brings nothing but cruelty and death?

Anyone who harms an animal is the equivalent of a pedophile, in my opinion. Anyone who harms an innocent, unknowing being deserves a slow, painful death.

I will write to my government. I will continue my boycott.

There are many groups protesting Chinese activities: against trading with Darfur, against human rights violations in their own country, against their crackdown on the protesters in Tibet, and of course, against their multitude of mistreatments against animals.

I have decided not to watch the video clip, seeing some of the small photos that are visible on the website have made my stomach turn! I think its insane, unhuman, disgusting, and very very sad. Dont get me wrong… im not a crazy animal lover. But more to the point, what the hell is wrong with those people? If your able to cut an animal up like ALIVE then what the hell else are they capable of? It mentionned on the site that trading with china is one of the major reasons for governments not to act. this is one part. the other side is our consumer behavior! we always want to have the cheapest but are not aware that a lot of parts comes from china. In a lot of products are parts made in china. Electronics, cloth etc. So we have to trace these companies and boykot their products! the chinese government will not do anything about these grievances. So we have to force all companies which produces goods in china (which is inevitable) that they have to use their influence to overcome all these cruelties done in china!!!

I couldn’t bring myself to watch the video but your discription was enough to make me cry, these monsters that do this should be locked in a cell where they cant move and just left there to die! I lost sleep after the horrid video.
Im only 14 and i new that people do bad things to animals my mum and dad give money to every kind of place that saves animals eg WWF. I thought i had seen and heard all the terrible things people do to animals, untill i saw this. I am still in shock at how monsterus and disgusting people can be!!! I dont understand in are world today how people can do this dont they no animals have feelings to! or are they so unbelivebly evil they dont care! I sit hear now, almost in tears and feeling sick to my stomcah. Before i watched the video, i never imagined that such horror would be shown before my very eyes. How can such cruelty as this go on in the world? I love all animals, and i can not bear to see such cruelty inflicted upon these poor, defenceless creaures, how can any human being do such a thing. Please add me to your petition. I think that what they are doing is cruel, unfare and unjust. You wouldn’t just cram numerous people in a cage, beat them and skin them! I believe these animals should be strung up and given the same treatment as they give these animals. I would gladly sign up to hand out the punishment. I will sign any petition to end this madness anyone can email to help end this sort of cruel bloodshed.

Vile is the only word to describe what these people do to these creatures that have done nothing to garner such atrocities committed against them, but have a small square of fur, that will be used to add some vanity to an ignoramus who thinks it makes them look posh, and extravagant. I have no sympathy for the workers who carry out these barbaric means, as they have choices to feed their families in other ways, and the way they conduct themselves during these violent acts proves they have no heart, no soul. How could you while performing such brutality while hearing, seeing, smelling the entire ordeal the animals are put through? It has to be taken more seriously, by everyone around the globe, celebrities are often excellent sources to draw attention and assist in initiating public outrage. The international community needs to place tremendous pressure on China to change their archaic ways. People who are consumers of the end products need to be heavily educated, shown the means by which their small strip of fur that decorates the hood on their coat or scarf or gloves, have been acquired.
Boycotts need to be implemented against China on a large scale, their products, their games. Why not? They could care less about the remainder of the world getting their inferior products ie. the unsafe toys, the lead based items which they sell to the rest of the world, not caring that they are extremely harmful and dangerous.
This cause needs to grow so that the majority unite and will hopefully be able to do something positive for these animals.

I could watch barely any of the video. I can watch surgery shows without a problem. It was the fact that the animals were suffering horribly and there was nothing that I could do to stop what was happening to them. If I witnessed something like that in real life, I would have the urge to tackle the people to the ground and start skinning THEM. I can’t possibly understand how skinning animals alive is easier when they move around trying to escape. I watched about 3 seconds of the video and could not watch another second more.
That was this morning, it is now late and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it all day.I am horrifed that anyone could treat an animal in such a cruel inhumane way.
I find it hard to put across in words, exctly how I feel, my heart sank at the barbarity of it . I feel so much sadness for the pain these poor animals must suffer through. I keep looking at my own dog, curled up on the couch without a care in the world. It is truly heartbreaking to know these barbaric ******* are not punished. This is so hard to fathom. I hope that one day each and every one of these KILLERS pay for what they have done. I will make sure everyone I come accross will be told about this and asked to sign the petition.

I can’t believe, that in this day and age, people could be so cruel to animals. One thing people have to understand, (and this is not a racial comment), is that the Chinese people, have not only done acts such as skinning live animals to feed the fur industry, but they too, run other animals into extinction IE: seahorses, which are crushed up and used as a drug for sexual enhancement. There are many other cruel things that the Chinese do as well. We may not all like rats, but I still think it’s cruel to boil them live to be served on dinner plates. I think the people of China, need to be educated first, so that they understand what they have done and are doing to animals of ALL species, is wrong. Nothing, will help an Asian man’s penis, become bigger. If they want longer errections, there is Viagara.

There are other sick acts that the Chinese do as well. I have seen photos, of an Asian, (perhaps not from China), eating a human baby, which was served on a plater. This, is the absolute truth. I am sickened by a race, that even filled with good, decent people who honour life from that country, can’t stop the atrosities seen here on this web site and elsewhere.

God. Human beings, are the WORST creatures on this planet.

Why should the animals that are being abused suffer. Why cant we. Why cant the people who do these kind of things suffer. We need the world, but the world doesnt need us. These things happend for a reason ? i dont think so, they happend because people need to look good for another, by wearing an animals face or neck, or even stomach. People dont need real fur to had fame or to make them selfs look good. So you immature Adults, tell us kids that we need to grow up and find out how the world really is. We’ve found out, the world is unfair, we all know that, but making other living things put there life in danger for fashion, is just cruel. Adults say, you kids are just immature and dont know nothing! What we do know for a fact is that cutting or skinning an animals fur , head, or anything else is IMMATURE. We are the ones trying to stop this cause, because the world cant get enough of pollution or cruelty, assult, rape or any other bad causes. We caused it, so why cant we stop it. Animals DO not deserve these kind of things, say theres enough of them ? No there isnt, killing them makes us have less, people who want a cat, or a dog, even fish, you are preventing it from happening, for fashion. WE would do just fine with out fur in fashion. This has got to stop cuz we just crossed the line.

Oh my god. I do not know what to say. People are blind as to what goes on in our world. I honestly feel sick and will no longer be going out tonight, i will stay in. i don’t dare to watch the videos, cant stand watching n i actually cried without even watching it. i am a great animal lovers, what makes those people think that animals deserve to be treated that way?! One of our cats is sitting perched on my lap, the other two are lolling in front of the fire as it is a very cold night here. I look at their dear little faces and I wonder at the brutality of the men in the video. They say a civilisation can be judged by the way it treats its most vulnerable members – China has a very very long way to go!

I saw the video clip 2 days ago and was horrified at this appalling practice. I have now emailed every Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives (Australia) and have even had replies from some. I will spread the word to create awareness. I have asked our Government to lodge an official objection to this practice.

I have watched the footage this morning which I found attached to a group on Facebook. I couldn’t carry on watching it. I was so upset I couldn’t close down the internet so I had to switch the machine off entirely. I felt physically sick. Words can’t be found to describe this act. But I can safely say that after seeing that footage I don’t think I’ll ever quite be the same person again. The images will be with me ’til I die. To call it a wake up call would be a gross understatement. It makes me feel sickened and ashamed to be human and I want anyone, anywhere who causes cruelty of any kind to animals to feel that creatures pain, suffering, fear and terror. I can’t describe the hatred I feel for such people. I believe they are a true definition of evil and it sickens me that I have to walk the same earth as them.
Please add my name to any petition that will help destroy this trade and punish the people who partake in it. I will be spreading the word as far and wide as I can from now on – anyone who could let this pass them by has no soul in my eyes.

I have never been involved in campaigns and have never really considered animal welfare, even though I have 2 cats. However, I was close to physically being sick when I watched those videos.
I have travelled around the world to a few indiginous tribes, and have never seen one hunter skin a live animal, they seem to manage just fine when the animal has been killed (for food). The hunters even made the death swift by ensuring it died in the most quick and painless way after the animal was hit with the arrow or dart.
If China believes it is a civilised society, then it is wrong. Add these horrendous actions to it’s human right records and it’s arms deals and other relations with Sudan and I come to the conclusion that china should be cut off from the rest of the world; no trade, no travel. Until these horrendous actions cease completely.

hi jackie, hope your still up to date with these replys, i watched some of the video after just giving in and not thinking i pressed the play button. i held my breath watching it, but keeping my cries in because my children were in the room i couldnt stay silent, i saw that persons foot on the lovely animals neck, his foot was touching the ground for gods sake it was that hard. i had to switch it off. we all have to do something but most of us dont because we dont know how to start i hope the people who murder these animals die slowly and painfully. i dont know what else to say its all too shocking.

I watched that Video and I had to stop it half way through becasue it bothered me so much. I already cannot wear any fur because it makes me sick but seeing that just made it even worse. I have 5 cats and two dogs and soon a hamster of my own and I could not imagine this ever happening to them. This form of animal cruelty MUST BE STOPPED!!! There are so many other jobs in China, so its not like these men and women need this job. Thanks for starting this and I really want to do my part in supporting this cause!

I’ve been haunted by the images of those poor defenseless animals, How can someone in their right mind do such a thing? These people don’t see animals as living creatures, they must simply see them as beasts, with no feelings, emotions or sensation of pain. They must be either very poor and willing to do anything for a penny or very uneducated.

I can tell you, that I will never and I mean never buy anything with fur on it, even if it’s suppose to be fake fur. I am also going to take it a step further and print out some information from the site and keep it in my car, that way if I see anything that has fur in a store, I will hand out the info to the clerks and managers, I am sure many retail stores are unaware that some of their merchandise might be made of cat or dog fur.
We have to stop such cruelty and I am sure that if we all join together, we can make a big difference and save future animals from being skinned alive….I feel sick to my stomach just saying it.

I have in the past and will be in the future if the opportunity presents itself a hunter. I know that will disgust many on this page, but never in my life have I witnessed anything as cruel as I have just seen. Considering what China does to it’s people this does not surprise me even though it sickens me. I was taught to hunt by a First Nations man in the North West Territories. We were not even allowed to touch the Caribou until they were dead. I cannot believe that it is easier to skin a live wriggling animal that is trying to bite you than it is a dead one. If your not going to eat the meat don’t kill the animal. And to avoid the wild taste caused by adrenaline, you must kill quickly and humanely. The animal can’t know whats happening. Torturing animals is just wrong.

I was shocked beyond belief when I witnessed the video. It makes me ashamed of being a human being. I had to stop the video I felt so sick. Those animals suffering at the hands of pure evil. I would like to see them rither in the pain of having their skin removed! I completely agree with Andrea above they should be tortured themselves. How they can go to their beds at night after inflicting pain on an animal I will never be able to understand. This needs to be stopped immediately, cultural differences does not come into it. I have skinned rabbits when they have been killed – their bodys still warm why they can’t humanely kill them and immediately skin I cannot understand what the difference is apart from the animal does not suffer.

I can`t believe people are doing this to animals. It breaks my heart, just hearing about it. Who do they think they are? Torturing defendless animals just for the sake of money?! I think this is absolutely sick– I cannot comprehend how these people can do this, how they can be so ignorant and idiotic, to take these poor animal’s lives like this. As we have been devastated by the death of Eight Belles, the response to this by PETA, (a good response, animals dying for a 30 second race should not happen), and the killing of animals all over the world. I have not been aware of this sickness, the fur trade has been terrible for years, I do not believe in it firsthand, but then animals being skinned alive is absolutely terrible.

I started to watch the video– and I just couldn’t. I have a strong stomach with blood, I have had my fair share of injuries, but this is horrible. When I found out what was going on with the Chinese concerning their skinning dogs and cats for the fur trade I was, to say the very least, bloody horrified! Why hasn’t there been more of an uproar by animal associations and animal welfares around the world? I am a vegeterian and have been for over 30 years. I raised my voice when the fur trade was in full swing some years ago and handed out fliers in the street to passersby. Could you send me fliers and pamphlets so I can do the same with this issue?
As for the Olympic Games, I am hoping that by spreading the news through fliers and pamphlets I can make people much more aware of the terrible suffering these poor non-humans are subjected to and therefore make the Olympic Games as unsuccessful as possible.

China seems to get away with so much – pollution, boiling animals alive for food and now skinning animals. It cannot use the excuse that it is a ‘developing country’ or that these are cultural practices – it is obvious to everyone that these animals suffer unspeakable agonies. It is terrifying that this happens on such a huge scale and that the people who carry out these actions are so lacking in pity and seem to enjoy what they do. If China was skinning murderers alive, there would be an international outcry – as there should be for so many of their actions towards animals and the environment.

I fully support all the efforts on this website and recommend strongly that the Olympics in Beijing are picketed by this group as the eyes of the world will be on China for 4 weeks – it’s a great opportunity to raise awareness. I am happy for you to use my details as you see fit.

When i was little i saw on the news one night a video of a persian cat thrown in boiling water to harvest its fur. It was one of the most awful things i had ever seen and was something i never forgot. As i grew older i presumed this had stopped.

To see that it has continued on for decades and become even more barbaric sickens me. I did watch the video, but couldnt watch beyond the first dog. It was just too much.

One dog or cat suffering this is one far too many.

This will probably be an image that remain with me forever and one that will continue to cause me anguish. However I am not sorry for having watched it. Because i did i signed the petition and i will continue to make more people aware of this. If i f eel upset i know its a very small price too pay for helping to stop this.

I also could only watch the first ten seconds of the video- i regularly receive e mails from the PETA organisation and cannot and never will be able to understand mans cruelty to these poor defenceless animals. Quite frankly this practice makes me ashamed to be human.

I honestly cannot think of any words to describe this horror.
As someone who has spent over 40 years in the animal rescue business in England & Canada, I thought I had probably seen it all but this takes the biscuit.
I do know that many chinese persons do not veiw animals as loving pets but as food or the means to live & survive, HOWEVER there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for this blatant, disgusting and deliberate disregard for the suffering on the part of these poor helpless animals.
God says that not a single sparrow will fall without him knowing about it. I will pray & hope that he will not allow this practice to continue & will help you to contact the right
people who have the control to stop this.
While the images on the video will remain with me probably forever, I do believe that even though they are extremely disturbing and upsetting, by getting this message out to as many countries and then to the importing authorities in those countries as possible, something will and has to be done about this practice.

The targeting of the Olympics would be a great idea – I only found out about this practice through Facebook, so there will be millions more people unaware of what is going on in BARBARIC China. My entire life I have been anti-fur and I can’t even watch the video on the site because I am too afraid and disgusted. I understand that it is a fact that animals need to be used as a food chain source because of the simple matter of over population….its when sick SOB’s kill them for “trophies” or “fashion” that I am about ready to just disown the entire human race. If you’re going to kill an animal you better be using EVERY part of it like many indigenous people did in the past. Whats the point of leather and fur when we have so many wonderful organic or synthetic materials that are easy to keep up and cheap to buy and keep us warm???
The only thing I even remotely own that is close to animal fur is sheep’s wool and that doesn’t hurt the animal or torture them….it actually makes them cooler in the hot summer .

Well as much as I have seen and I knew about this skinning alive in China etc.I could not watch these videos for more than 3 seconds before I became seriously disturbed..so I wonder how detached from any humanity can these monsters be to do this to animals..here i thought hunting was bad, these people make sport hunting look angelic..

I am disgusted and I don’t know what to do about it..Go there and put these people away or skin them alive? I know there are organizations all over fighting for animal rights..yet not enough is being done when people in power are actually using these specific furs for their clothing lines..and we know who i’m talking about..We can blacklist everybody..What should happen is the government should ban this in any country this disturbing cruelty..They have to or else it will never stop..they have to work with the organizations and ban it completely..jail sentences checking traffic and meat wagons…not just for a price we do anything!!

When I was overseas I had witnessed allot of animal cruelty with stray cats and dogs and I helped as much as i could and it really messed me up after a few years that I didn’t even want to be in my own country..Because no matter how much i helped the next morning i see another starving dog dieing of dehydration on some street!
It never ends..at least here in Canada you don’t see it so much and they do allot for animals..not that in Europe they don’t but you see more things due to the fact the countries are much smaller..

That said i guess still nothing can compare to these videos or the seal murders..etc..not even the lady that puts kittens and puppies in a bag and throws them out alive in the garbage dumpster! yeah i have rescued some of them too..But the people close to this get sick after a while..

If the laws don’t changed and this isn’t banned it will be difficult to control it.. Now when those guys are carrying the crated and doing this if a group just grabbed them all and locked them up based on a law of it being ilegal in time it wouldn’t be so easy to continue in the amount of animals that this happens to..There isn’t enough fear obviously..I mean seriously if I took an animal and did that in a public place somewhere I would possible be killed for sure arrested and go through psychiatric evaluation!

many years ago i did a project at school on the fur trade and back then i was shocked by the practices used. but to think this trade is still thriving and using even more brutal practices than those i remember is unbelievable. how would these people feel if they were subjected to the same treatment? had to go through the same terror and suffering these poor animals do? we don’t need fur, we’re not eskimos. i have an acrylic faux fur jacket that looks great, keeps me warm and doesn’t mean animals have suffered to make it. it’s basically either a status symbol or a fashion thing and either way to wear fur is at best unneccesary and at worst disgusting. people know the trade is based on cruelty, everyone is aware of that, so they haven’t even got the excuse of ignorance.
keep going with your campaign, it’s worth everything.

That is really sad and it angers me that someone could be so cruel to an animal who has done nothing wrong. I think these people need to be punished to the fullest extent. There is no need to do that to a poor animal.
It needs to stop. Who ever is buying these furs should be in some kind of trouble and have all their worldy posessions taken from them. They should be skinned just like those poor creatures. I watched only a bit of the video where they skinned the raccoon and I still feel a sick to my stomach. I can’t even contemplate watching them skin a dog alive. I’ve been giving a lot of thought lately to avoiding buying Chinese made goods whenever possible, but more for job protection. Now I will double my efforts at avoiding anything Chinese because of the barbaric nature of their animal killings. Culture or not, how can anyone do this to another living creature. The stopping must be driven from inside China. Who there has the balls to step up and start campaigning. Gawd, I can’t imagine wanting anything to do with China again!!!!!

There aren’t the words to describe how sickened, outraged and distressed I felt on discovering the fate of these poor animals. I have cats as pets and imagining them facing a similar fate made it all the more real. It’s hard to believe that this sort of thing goes on in today’s world. It makes me ashamed to be a human being to see that anyone, from whatever nation, is capable of inflicting such heartless cruelty on these defenseless creatures. I now check the labels on all products I buy and will not knowingly buy any products whatsoever if they are produced in China. I wouldn’t dream of buying anything containing animal fur regardless of where it came from. In an ideal world, every nation would boycott the Olympic Games in China as a demonstration of our objection to such barbaric practices. No doubt that will not happen! I have tried to spread the word to as many friends and colleagues as possible, and have encouraged them to do likewise. The stastistics alone are staggering, the images made me more angry than anything else I have ever experienced. I hope I never see anything worse or as bad ever again.

But… though these practices are cruel, think about it.

Many of these people do this because they can’t afford to do it any other way (I’m not saying EVERYBODY).

They do hit them on the ground many times to try and kill them. It shows that in the video (first few parts).

I’m not condoning what they do, because I think it could be somewhat more humane.

Yet… why try and ban fur when you could be out finding a cure for cancer or feeding the hungry (both human and animal)?

There is nothing wrong with fur. Most people actually enjoy it. Yes, dogs and cats are used for fur. So are horses, cows, sheep, pigs, rabbits, and other animals.

Animals were given to us for us to use. Yes, to take care of them, but to have dominion over them, and if we need to, use them.

I am not saying that every animal should be skinned alive. Of course not. Look back up at my aspirations. I’m not even saying that China should continue this abominable trade. I’m just saying it’s pretty stupid to walk around here saying “Oh… those horrid murderers!! How horrible! I’m never going to buy a piece of fur again for as long as I live!”

And most of those same people turn around, put on their LEATHER shoes (most shoes contain some animal product in them, even it isn’t leather per-say), and then go fix dinner, which is chicken, or pork, or beef.

1 in every 1000 person is a true vegetarian. Everyone else eats meat, or some animal product at least once a month.

You have eggs in your food. Ever thought about all the hormones that go into those poor chickens? And into the eggs in your food? Most people don’t. And yet, people don’t have any problems eating eggs.

I think that is completely hypoctrical. Either you hate it all, hate only the inhumane, or what? You say you want to ban fur. Well… what happens to all of that fur that comes off of the meat you eat?

You say you want to ban meat. Well… what happens to all those animals bred solely for meat?

You say you want to stop their breeding. Well… what happens to our source of food?

Chickens raised on an organic farm run free, and eat the bugs. If no chickens were bred for food to run free, there would be too many bugs. Too many bugs means too many bugs eating too many plants. Loss of plants would mean loss of our primary food source: fruits and vegetables.

We need animals. We need food. And if we need the food, why not continue using everything the animal has to offer instead of just a part?

Ban live skinning if you wish. Ban the killing of animals just for fur. But by banning all fur, you’ll most likely end up banning meat. And banning meat will most likely end up wish overstock of animals. And then you’ll ban breeding, which will make most animals will die off, leaving very few. And with very few, you’ll have too many insects, disease, and more. And so, you’ll lose your fruits and vegetables.

Do one. Not all.

This footage is so awful. Lord only know’s how the person filming it was not sick. I’d so love to skin the people doing this terrible thing alive. I am in no way a violent person but there is absolutely NO excuse for skinning an animal when it’s alive!!!

YET… there’s one major point here, and that is…we ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT BEING vegitarians, we aren’t taking about not wearing leather lines shoes – we’re talking about skinning animals alive for their fur, and that it needs to stop. This is not, going to have some “amazing and negative” effect on the food chain… it’s simply a humanity issue. Nothing more, nothing less… and none the less important either!

Firstly, I would be most interested in hearing exactly where you draw this conclusion from :Animals were given to us for us to use. Yes, to take care of them, but to have dominion over them, and if we need to, use them. Is this the Bible you are quoting from?
Secondly, in this particular discussion we are talking about the inhumane slaughter of millions of dog/cats for the completely unnecessary and barbaric fur trade. Dogs and cats which could otherwise have been human companions. This relationship was forged many thousands of years ago between our ancestors and wolves/wild cats and unfortunately has since been viciously thrown into disrepute by those who have betrayed their trust and all for the likes of the cruel fur trade. This is why most people find this trade sickening. By getting outraged and taking action against the Chinese Fur Trade we are by no means whatsoever turning our backs on the suffering of other animals, quite the opposite in fact, let me explain:
Animal activists realize that we must take small steps to a large victory. For instance, banning meat is not the feasible step towards gaining what we ultimately want – Animal Rights. We realise we must do this in steps. The fur industry is first up because it is a luxury and vanity driven industry, completely unnecessary, it is not essential to our survival, and most people find it absolutely abhorrent once they are exposed to the facts ( such as the point of this website ). Therefore the fur industry is an achievable and well selected first target. Leather, on the other hand, is mostly a by-product, that is why the focus is not on the leather trade at this stage. In order to bring the leather industry down, you would need to bring the meat industry down first. The meat industry is the biggest mother of all – not feasible at this point. So the focus is on the fur trade, where millions of animals are farmed intensively, under torturous conditions for their entire lives before being callously slaughtered and all for the sake of the fickle and shallow fashion industry.
Let me reiterate: by speaking out against the fur trade, we are NOT turning our backs on the billions of animals worldwide that are enslaved and exploited by the human race, we are simply picking our targets carefully. It’s like taking bricks out of a wall, you pick the ones at the bottom first in order to disrupt the stability of the structure, in a hope that they entire thing will come crashing down at some point.

I have been a part of many animal organizations, have completed a science degree in animal physiology, and have studied and been surrounded by animals all my life. And every time an animal abuse/neglect issue comes up, from animal skinning, to shark finning, to Bear Bile extraction, I can’t help but notice it is always from CHINA. There is a common theme to these problems, and I believe it to be CHINESE culture and people.

If there is to ever be any real change, it will have to come from some major government influence…..or if possible, nuke the whole place, and make it into an animal sanctuary. I prefer the latter. My view may be drastic, un-politically correct, but whatever. The bottom line is this- China is the root of all evil. Just ask the animals, and they have been around waaaay longer than us.

Dear Jackie I am currently sitting here sobbing at what I have just read, I had no idea. I can not bring myself to watch the video as the words you wrote were more than I can handle. I am sorry to say I am on this earth with these people, I can not get my head around the fact that this is happening. I am lost for words, there are no words strong enough or harsh enough that can describe what I feel about these people and what they are doing. This is absolutely disgusting, to think that people can easily do such things is horrifying. China has been getting away with way too many injustices for too long, whether it be against humans or animals. I came across a link to the website on http://www.bebo.com on a dog lovers page. She was asking everyone to sign the petition. I watched the first part of the video and i can honestly say its the most horrific thing i have ever seen in my entire life. I went to bed last night still thinking about it and had nightmares about it all night long. I am an animal lover and it disgusts me to think that theres human beings in this world who think they have the right to do something so cruel to any animal. Can you even begin to imagine the pain and suffering of all these animals, how can they get away with this!? How can anyone think this is ok?!! Killing animals and taking their fur is bad enough, but to actually SKIN THEM WHILE THEY ARE ALIVE? Then to just throw them on the ground to suffer even more while you start skinning the next one!? What the hell is wrong with you people!?!!!!

I was unable to watch the video as I would never sleep properly again. No matter what excuses are trotted out about ‘cultural issues’ and poverty, there is no excuse whatsoever to inflict such pain and terror on fellow creatures. I’ve read some of the responses on facebook and this site. What I read was truly disgusting about how they should skin animals alive for money. I’ve also read from some idiotic person that if animals aren’t tested on then the homeless will b. We the human race have developed such powerful technologies eg. (the atom bomb which in some opinions b4 our time) thaat we shouldnt have to stoup this low. I understand that they r homeless but they could at the very least kill the animal b4 they skin it. This is truly disgusting I watched only 40 secs of the video before feeling like I was going to barf. How can anybody do that and watch the poor animal squirm in excruciating pain? I read an article, that they are also sweeping all the strays off the streets in order to get the city “clean” for the olympics. Honestly, why are olympics still being held there? Why don’t we boycott them like Russia was boycotted in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow?

Yes I have seen even more horrifying videos from other countys where they skinned German Shepard types that where screaming very loud, and that did not bother the men skinning them at all. they had the dogs tied down. they did not hit them to get them to be subbmissive as seen in these videos. I think thats what I was seeing in the videos here. Because the pain usually will make them scream. They animals were raised with allot of fear otherwise they would not be so submissive while they are enduring such pain. People are really unaware that the fur they may be wearing it not from a chinchilla ranch.

Well…where do I start. I watched the first segment of this video as I could not believe what I was watching. Chinese culture can be beautiful in some respects – but in others it cannot. All of of humans can be brutal in one way or another, tho I have never in my life seen anything like this. It horrified me and I have lost sleep over this. We need to have some government support on this worldwide. I work with animals everyday. They are innocent and to a point helpless, and EVERYONE needs to stand up for the protection of them. I am not against fur farming, if it is done in a humane manner. Hunters kill and use the animal in every aspect for the most part.
The chinese governmant should be enforcing laws that these animals are at least humanly euthanised prior to this skinning. No, it is not possible to enforce at all times, but they really do need to take a look at this. I too have noticed that most cruelty video’s come from either china ot thailand. why? Since this disturbing video has entered my life I am watching closley at products I buy. I may only be one indvidual – but anything that comes from china does not enter my cart. I am a true believer that money talks first and foremost in a situation such as this. They will also likely say that the new law on animal husbandry that came into force in 2006 (see http://english.people.com.cn/200508/25/eng20050825_204440.html) has made such practices illegal. They’ll say that these videos are appalling and distressing, but that they show only an outdated, inefficient and very small part of the fur trade in China, which as a whole is working towards animal welfare norms. And then they’ll say ‘These people should be going after Primark – it’s Western customers driving this trade’. You’ll need to have answers for these points!

Note to the wannabee vet: Beating them on the ground does not kill them.. it only hurts them, it provides no pain relief or anesthetic. It is done to keep the animals from fighting back.

We need to write to our government officials directly and do more than simply adding our names to an online petition. (They get so many online petitions, that many of them go ignored.) Plus, online names and addresses cannot be verified and are often not considered viable.

I am 20th yeas old, and all my life I have cats and dogs in my home. It not only animal, it our friends and part family. You can see, there are many other owners but the dogs and cats not leave him, it edification – devotion. So why we kill him, why we kill our friends.

I am a layout artist for a dog magazine in South Africa and I love all kinds of animals, big or small. Is there any research to follow the furs right through to their final destinations..ie the actual products used, definitive names and brands? If we could get a global list of products it would help in targeting the end-consumer to make them aware of the process involved in the creation of their fancy ‘new’ item, whatever it may be. Until then for many of them ignorance is bliss. I believe we could significantly reduce the purchase of any product using even the smallesest amount of fur from these poor animals if more people got to see the process (ie via the video or at least Jackie’s description.)

I just read a comment from a Chinese person in China, saying how its wrong not all people are bad, and they only do that for a living to earn money…okay fair enough..but that has nothing to do with skinning them ALIVE. As a vet nurse I cannot comprhend how a human being could stand their and participate in something so painful, cruel, inhumane, sick, twisted and unnecessary. there is no point in saying things like all those who perpetrate this kind of cruelty should be killed, even though I can sympathize with the emotions that seeing the video must generate. We need to keep in mind who is buying the product; if there is no market, there will be no money and no reason for the trade to continue. Who is importing the skins? These are the people to target. We must refuse to be a part of this trade and to work hard toward ending it. Keep in mind that this is only one of many horrors to which animals are subjected; in other parts of the world, animals bred or otherwise killed for the fur trade don’t get off lightly either. I think timing this with the opening of the Olympic Games is a good idea, but doubt that it will get any airplay on the conventional media; the power of vested interests being what it is. But this website has obviously reached many people and if all who access it send to as many people as they can think of, there is a chance of changing what is happening to those animals.

I first came across some of the video footage while visiting another website about greek animal cruelty. When I first saw it I was so upset I felt ill and couldn’t eat or sleep. I have a dog and he is so intelligent, loving and gentle with the children…. How anyone could inflict deliberate pain on an animal is just beyond my understanding! The suffering of these helpless animals is a crime against all human decency! I realise there is poverty in china, but surely there must be a better way of earning a living than skinning live animals, even killing them first would be a vast improvement. Does poverty dull the brain to all compassion? We are supposed to have compassion for people living in poverty, but these people show no compassion for any living thing.
China is now the new superpower and it is the pain of innocent animals that has helped get it there. WE MUST SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE CHINESE FUR TRADE AND STOP BUYING CHINESE PRODUCTS WHENEVER POSSIBLE UNTIL THE COUNTRY STOPS THIS DISGUSTING CRUELTY FROM GOING ON.

I was so sickened by what I learnt about the live skinning of cats and dogs in China for fur. I am determined to do something proactive about it. As an educator in a secondary high school, I am going to try to get the students involved in a fund raising capaign.

It astounds me that any human could carry out the live skinning of animals. I can’t believe that they can not see and hear the pain they cause and not be affected. We must speak up for those who can not have a voice! It is the ultimate in cowardly behaviour to torture an animal.

As a future vet myself, I am on the complete opposite end of the spectrum honey, cause what you said is just plain crazy. And this cause is just as important as feeding the hungry or finding a cure for cancer, there is time for all those things and they all need to stop of course, but this needs to be including in your lumpings of the other things we “should” be doing. Don’t separate this cause from other important ones, because it is important. VERY IMPORTANT!

Hello. I just read the letter that Jackie Caruso wrote to her representive in December 2007. (posted on this site) I’m interested to know what type of response Jackie recieved. I truly, truly, truly wish that the trade of real fur would just be illegal. But I realize that might not ever happen. What I wish MORE than ANYTHING is that if this continues and “has” to be done then these animals should live a normal life and not be caged and horrified their entire lives and they should be killed in a HUMANE way…. That is the ONLY way this should be allowed. ANYTHING that has feelings does not deserve to go through this. And, yes, we as humans are on the top of the food chain. More people should look at it this way though… “yes we are humans and we are more powerful than animals…. That means we should PROTECT them NOT harm them!!!!!!!!!!!”
I, continually, add animal activist groups/individuals as friends on myspace. Myspace is SO HUGE nowadays! I post facts that most people don’t know about “like the skinning of animals” on bulletins on myspace hoping that I will make more people aware of what goes on and that they might stop contributing to these horrible things.
I have found that every person I talk to, EVERY PERSON, agrees that there should be a law against the horrible ways animals are treated. I do not eat meat after learning what farm animals go through. And hardly none of my friends or family members are vegetarian nor do they plan on becoming one, but they do all agree that the way animals are treated is WRONG and something needs to be done. My point being… I think MOST people are willing to help get laws past even if the do in fact wear fur or eat meat… they AT LEAST agree there should be more humane conditions.
I am always open to learning what more I can do to help. And, like I said, I have many groups and indiviuals on my myspace page who are GREAT activist and have Great advice and info. Try to calm down, and not let your anger drive you by knowing.. and seeing this, is almost impossible. I learned of the cruel fur trade in China a couple of years ago, to my utter disbelief, shock and absolute horror. I could not sleep for weeks and became very depressed so much so that my doctor prescribed pills for me, I just cant stop thinking about all the terrified little cats and dogs and the sheer terror and torture that they are going through, right now, as I sit here in my comfy,safe home, with my cats purring on my lap and my darling dog, with his soft bed and toys everywhere, its so unfair, I cant bear it, I want to run down the road screaming, ‘ weve got to stop this’. I am very glad that you are doing something amazing to bring this atrocity to the worlds attention, thank you so much, we can stop this together. There are more animal lovers in the world than there are those cruel, evil, emotionless Chinese monsters.

I have just watched the video…unfortunately I could not watch it all as I was nearly physically sick…this is absolutely disgusting and in this day and age should not be allowed to go on!! What is wrong with these people..I am sorry but whoever could do this to another living creature, watch it suffer, is sick and is capable of anything!! What annoys me even more is that the Chinese and Japenese are responsible for so much cruelty to animals eg the bears for their gall bladders, tiger bones, fox farming, seal clubbing, whale hunting etc something should be done to stop them, they should not be allowed to get away with this!! I have not watched the video’s nor do i need to watch the video’s, unfortunately i am only too aware of the horrors involved and don’t wish to remind myself. These acts of barbarism defy belief and are as sick as anything i have ever come across in my 37yrs on this planet. I am afraid i do not even have the words to describe my utter disgust. I watched a programme on channel 4 here in the UK just last evening on this very subject, I missed the first half hour..which i’m thankful for..and the few images that i did see will haunt me for the rest of my life…I used to have the greatest respect for the Chinese culture which fascinated me and China was one of the countries i would have loved to visit…NOT ANYMORE…I too will now be boycotting all Chinese produce. I’m sitting here with my beautiful little yorkie in my arms and i can’t stop kissing her looking into her big trusting eyes..i’m wishing i could hold those dogs in arms too and protect them from this torture…its breaking my heart.

First of all i’d like to apologise for the language i am about to use!!!. The fucking sick bastards on that video made me want to smash my computer screen up, i was that angry. i’m not easily upset but that video made me cry, i couldn’t watch it all, those poor animals being ripped to shreds while alive and trying to fight back, had no fucking chance what-so-ever, they were gonna get murdered by those deranged, sick, don’t deserve to be called-human beings!! Why do these people think they can justify this kind of sick cruelty! they are extremely sick in the head and want just a finger at least skinning to see how those fucking poor innocent, defencelous animals actually feel!! And they weren’t just doing that sick enough act, but they were actually treading on their throats, strangling them, bashing their heads on the fucking floor, bashing them on head with god knows what else (and still alive i might add)!!! All this for fucking vanity, it wants to stop right now and the people involved want to get life inprisonment!!! It’s barbaric animal cruelty, unsurpassed. The Chinese mentality needs investigation since I know of no-one that could do such a thing to a defenceless animal. It is simply incredible cruelty.

I don’t agree with dogs being eaten or animals bred for fur but if it is done, then FFS do it humanely. This is death by Neanderthal man and has no place in modern society.

As for China hosting the Olympics, far more countries should have shown support against this utter nastiness and pulled out.

I am so horrifyed that people are actually doing this. I cannot even bring myself to watch the videos because I’m already near tears. This needs to stop.

we all as a family think it is disgusting and degrading to animals it should be banned from the world completly. we are glad we dont live in china we think if everyone knew what the fur was no-one would have the heart to by it! we will not be visiting china as it is a sick country!

Due to my love of dogs, I left the corporate world and started a dog walking business in Melbourne 2 and a half years ago. I now have 15 dog walkers on my books. This just goes to show the love and respect that (most) Australians have for their dogs. We need to somehow educate these other cultures, paricularly the Chinese, in relation to the benefits and rewards which can be gained by owning a beautiful, loving and faithful dog. Perhaps a group of us could get together here, who work in the dog/pet industry, and devise some sort of educational material (eg video, pamphlets, books). We could travel to China as a group and set about educating the civilians about caring for dogs, the benefits of owning a dog and how to care for a dog. It’s the public in general in China that need to be shown the benefits of owning a pet dog. They have been brainwashed throughout their upbringing to see dogs not as loving pets, but as food, fur, money and perhaps pests? The only way we can change their views on the value of owning a pet dog is to show them the benefits. But how do we show them? The only way I can think is to educate them from an early age. Perhaps visiting primary schools and taking puppies along to show the children that dogs are beautiful, loving, affectionate and loyal animals and must be treated as such. I found the video very sad to watch but I was working in China for 3 years and it is something that will never change there. I wish I could encourage you and tell you all this will help but it wont. they have 5000 years of history and culture and will not listen to us. The government treats their people worse than these animals and the world tries to help but are shut out. The average person in China does not see this dog killing and actually many people don’t eat dog like the world thinks but they have it for sale if you want. I was unable to finish watching the video. It is difficult to believe, even after seeing it that this is real and that such horror would be explained as a matter of convenience. At first I felt like I was going to be sick, then I cried.

I keep thinking not just about the horrific acts I saw done to animals, but also about what participation in this must be doing to the workers.

Is it possible to practice these acts as a part of your workday and not destroy important portions of your humanity.

I watched the video footage for about 30sec and had to stop. I was so disgusted by the workers laughing at what they were doing.
It is scenes like these that prevent me from being a hands on helper to an organisation like this, because if I was an undercover camera man taking this footage, I think I would produce a nice big “crocodile dundee” style bowie knife and start skinning them alive and see how they like it!!! Either that or just pull out a gun and just shoot them. Am I wrong to feel like that??

Just having watched one video on the site, I was absolutely sickened and horrified at what I was witnessing!! I had always believed China to be the worst in terms of human rights violations towards not only their own people but Tibetans as well but seeing this has left me with an absolute disgust for the Chinese people that carry out these atrocities against these poor animals. Hear in AUS we skin all types eg,roos,deer,goats,emu,wild dogs,wild cats,foxs,cows,sheep the list gos on.We eat roo,deer,goat,snake,cows,sheep,emu,we even export roo,emu,goat and that list gos on to.Not that i like i idear but every country has the right to do what they want if the rest of use don’t like it then we go to war just ask the USA. I don’t think that the Chinese government understands just how much is lost because of this horrific practice!

I am a corporate consultant and on several occasions, my clients have needed to aquire products that are cheaper (and readily available) in China. But because of the way animals are treated in China, I go through alot more trouble, trying to find equivalent products in other countries because I make a point of not buying goods made in China and not letting my clientes buy either! I will only encourage my clients to buy chinese products, when animal protection laws are released and in PRACTICE.

As for the olimpic games: I would like you to know that many portuguese people actually refused to even watch them because they should never be held in a country with such apalling and disturbing disrespect for life!

Please add me to your petition, I can not bring myself to read the letter, I had sleepless nights after finding the animalsaviours website, I am writing a letter to the UK government asking them to ban importing products that use fur, I dont see any need for use of fur now as there is perfectly acceptable ‘faux fur’ available.

I have to disagree with Melanie though, we do wear wool BUT it’s not taken from a slaughtered sheep at all. It’s sheared off the sheep with shears and the sheep does not feel any pain whatsoever, completely different love. It’s humane, we don’t take the skin aswell, we only take the wool. I do wonder why nothing was ever said about these practices prior to the Beijing Olympics, if they boycotted the Russia olympics in 1980, why couldn’t we have done the same in this situation, i’m really quite angry about that.
Shame on the Australian Govt. for not making a stand when in Australia people are so readily punished for cruelty to animals. What was the difference i’d like to know and I highly doubt anyone in Australia has ever been prosecuted for such a cruel inhumane act yet obviously it seems the australian Govt. condones it by allowing Australian athletes to participate in the olympics, surely the government can’t say they didn’t know about these kinds of things going on because I know this has been a hot topic for a long time now.

I saw this website yesterday and I literally cried the entire day. I could not get the images out of my mind. I am devastated that this is happening in our world. Those beautiful cats and dogs are so scared and innocent. They have no idea what is happening to them and to just throw them around, bang their heads against the ground and then skin them alive. Ugh! I have so much anger in me right now. I am a proud owner of three beautiful dogs and two stray cats that we saved. My husband and I can’t believe this. I couldnt watch the video as I know I would have nightmares. I have 5 beautiful cats and I cannot comprehend the cruelty invovlved in this practice. Nothing really surprises me regarding animal cruelty anymore. Humans can be so heartless and without soul.
As to a previous letter in which it was stated that humans are meant to have dominion over animals. Yes, we are meant to but Im quite certain that we arent meant to skin them alive just for their fur. This is an inhumane practice that has no part of the 21st century.

I am crying my head off thinking of all the animals and what they are going through right now this minute!!! How can these people do this!! for a dollar a coat, its outrageous!!! Even if it was a million dollars a coat its not worth it!!!!! I saw a show not too long ago about how the Chinese and Tiawanese people are killing all the sharks in the ocean just for thier fins!!! They just throw them back in the water after cutting off their fins and tails ALIVE, then throw them away like garbage!! Its sick!!! They showed children playing with the sharks heads and laughing. Something is wrong with these people, they arenet human!! They make shark fin soup which is a billion $ a year industry, it has no flavour yet it is thought to make you healthy as people think sharks dont get sick. Also if the sharks dont eat a certain plankton, it depletes the worlds oxygen for us to breathe so in essence they are killing us by killing the sharks!!! Sorry for getting off the subject. I am so upset about this something has to be done!!! If people knew about this they wouldnt buy the stuff, I know they wouldnt. Maybe put posters up in the stores where they sell this type of stuff to let people know about it. Im sure if the store owners knew they wouldnt sell it. Surely money cant be worth more to them than a beautiful animal. This is the worst thing Ive ever seen, I cant beleive the Olympics were held there and nothing was said about this or at least Ive never heard of it. Cruel bastards!!!!

i have not seen jackie’s video. i cannot bring myself to it. the descriptions and the pics posted on this site were more than sufficient. i’m rather numb right now and dunno what to say… i ‘ve had a dog myself and just cannot imagine how anyone can bring themselves to hurt any creature … . please add me to the petition. i don’t think i can wage an outright war against anybody or institute but i definitely can and will make others aware of this. i don’t think all chineese people are bad but the psychopathic arses that are doing these despicable arses should definitely be stopped.

i found this disturbing, and lost sleep. my friends and i are starting a fund raiser and alerting our school so they to can hold fund raisers, as a way to raise money.

After seeing that footage, i feel sad. now thats a rarity for me as i believe my self to be desensitised to violence… but i just can not believe that people would willingly do this sort of shit for a living. i dont wear fur as is (kind of useless up in Darwin) but now i KNOW that if i ever need to stay warm, i think ill just stick with SYNTHETIC jackets.

This is terrible! Have anyone asked the people that do this: Do you want some big ugly monster to do just the same to you? I really wonder what they would answer! Because… Do the animals “scream or try to get away” when they do the terrible things? Yes they do. Do you know what it means? It means that they got feelings, just like us! I could not bring myself to even read about what happens to these animals let alone watch the movie clips. Even though the whole world for millions of years has killed animals for food the fact this is for fur only is disgracful. My family own a butchers and have done for 70 years and the animals are killed in the most humane way possible which is still not great, when you think about it. To eat animals is still probably not correct but I do eat meat and will continue to do so. I have never and will never in my life buy a product that is from an animal unless it is to eat. This is revolting. There is absolutely no defense for causing gratuitous suffering to any creature. Those responsible should be dealt with most severely. Anyone claiming a cultural defence is talking rubbish. Chinese are predominantly atheist or buddhist. Neither philosophy condones such barbarism. Buddhism explicitly forbids it.

Here’s how to stop it.. boycott chinese products, write to the chinese embassy in your own country and tell them why, tell your friends to do the same.

I could not be more disgusted in my life. Everyone know it the Fu***** Chinese who are making many animals go extinct, for example. The Bengal Tiger. The Chinese pay poachers to go out and hunt these rare Tigers. The Chinese will pay the poacher in Chen, I believe thats what they call their money…Well it is equivalent to $25,000 US Dollars, for a decent sized Tiger on their “Black Market”.

I am a huge animal lover, I own many animals, and my fiance and I take in unwanted or abused Reptiles, but We also have 5 cats, 2 Mastiffs, a dwarf rabbit. A baby Alligator Snapper turtle, An American Snapper Turtle, 7 Snakes, 3 over 8ft. We also have had a baby Florida Alligator, a hamster, a gerbil, a rat, and 3 ducks, and 3 Leopard Geckos.

Fortunately, we have a Home big enough to house our beloved animals, and know a lot of very respectable and trusting people who we can rely on, giving them one or a couple of our rescues.

I greatly appreciate what you are doing. I never knew this was going on in China. And thank you for making this petition.

I have for many years boycotted anything chinese, I refuse to buy anything remotely linked to china and I urge the whole world to do the same. My wife and I watched both of the videos, my wife and I were very disgusted to see how cruel some of the people in China can be towards animals. I think the Government should outlaw the skinning of any animal. they should be treated the same as those animals.

If you haven’t seen the movie “Shark Water”, check it out. It’s from a Canadian director, who came across film a Doc. on Sharks, and discovered the hunting and de-fining of sharks. Same thing, they catch the shark, de-fin them alive and through them over board to make room for more fins, while the shark sinks to the bottom and dies of suffocation and starvation.

It all makes me sick tomy stomach…it need to be stopped.

i got this link to this website and seen the video i couldn’t stand to see more then 10 secs of the video because i was shocked angry and sad felt like throwing up i broke down morally even cryed a bit. I signed the petition but i m gonna do more even if it takes hours and hours each day to get more more people to know what happens to animals over there i will do it.This slaughter of barbaric killings of animals will be not tolerated in any way . What i think should be done to slow this down to a complete stop is to get these governments all around the world to stop buying these furs to slow down demand then go after the root of the problem, as i know there is alot of other country’s who slaughter animals like china and sell the fur its just absolute sickening and barbaric.

This is without a shadow of a doubt, the worst and most shocking, upsetting, repulsive thing I have ever seen in my entire life, there can be no justification whatsoever for the awful treatment of these poor creatures, I dont advocate fur, but do accept people will insist on wearing it, but this is abhorrent in its worst form. I just saw that there are comments here dated back to 2007. I saw the animal skinning video just last week and believed this was a newly discovered crime against animals. How frustrating it is that nothing has been done to stop China in all of this time. Nothing! These animals are being tortured day after day, and every day since I first saw that video, I have wondered “How many died today?” It’s always on my mind. And all we are doing right now, at this moment in time, is making people aware? We’re blogging. We’re emailing links. We’re composing letters to Embassy personnel who probably don’t even read them. How frustrating. How terrible. This is just too slow! People, animals are suffering while you are ordering Starbucks.

Thankyou so much for what you are doing. It takes a brave person to subject themselves to this material and I have been fortunate not to have to view to know what you are saying is true.
I am going to contact my local mp and invite friends from facebook to your site. I have three dogs and two cats and they are so like children – how anyone can do what they do to animals and be accepting of it! In this day and age even China know better and could do more to stop this.
Cruelty is not acceptable in any shape or form and the saddest thing is little children will be buying fury toys with animal fur that died so cruelly and they have no idea.
Use the media, make this a well known problem and you have my support in whatever you do.

In England I have set up a non-profit organisation to prevent violent crime – our aims include long term education programmes, parenting support and encouragement to media to develop more awareness and self help programmes to encourage change. This organisation was set up after my son was stabbed for trying to protect someone else and my nephew was savagely kicked until his face broke for doing the same thing. Violence, aggression and cruelty to animals, children – anyone is unecessary and unaceptable. There is a strong link between the type of character who will find it easy to be cruel to an animal that can also find the same true of being cruel to human beings.

I cannot believe what I just saw on this video. How could a country, or yet even a person skin animals alive. If I was walking around and happened to bump into someone skinning an animal alive, I would have no problem ended that persons life. That is just cruel, and I cannot even imagine the pain that animal is feeling. That is not the respect or the way anyone including animal should die.

This is the most heart breaking thing i have ever watched before. It is absolute madness that this goes on and these people have no problem skinning these beautiful animals alive. What really angers me is that the many people i tell about what i witnessed in this video, they seem disgusted and yet don’t seem to be put off buying fur! My perspective on life is that we are here as a privilage, not a right. Clearly those people do not understand that/don’t care.
