They should have a page on MYSPACE.I for one will never be On facebook,I don't like facebook or how it misuses peoples information.

I have another idea to help. This involves people in the entertainment industry. We need more "names" to advocate on our behalf to get the word out.I have personally stated on my portfolios (I model) that I refuse to wear fur.Granted,I am still a nobody. But te more people who take a stand, the more people know. Also, those of us who blog,we can mention this also. And on MYSPACE I have done that.

I wish we could contact Peter,to ask him to please make a MYSPACE page. When he does I will put the org on my top friends page and promote like I do with the cat rescue orgs I volunteer for and donate to.

My mother just did something brilliant!!! I ask everybody to get a facebook account and send the Stop LIVE animal skinning in China- sign the petition to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" she loves animals and it is worth a try. If we get all of the members of this site to send it to her we might get a spot. It maybe like playing the lottery, but you never know. Lets try, it doesn't cost anything.

I stumbled on this group today through a friend on Facebook. I have not watched the video as the words were powerful enough. Unfortunately, I do not have much confidence in the US government. I think that if enough people get together, sign petitions to stop shopping at certain stores (and really stick to it) maybe we can start to see a shift. I think change is always created from the bottom up. College students may be a good start. They must be able to vote or congress will not even blink an eye. College students are passionate about their causes, can see things through and can spread news like a brush fire. Maybe there is a way to get to the colleges for awareness. They will surely spread the news with enthusiasm to their parents and I am sure with arms waving in the air and tears flowing. student; Why didn't you tell me about this? parent; Because I didn't know. student; We must do something right now Mom and Dad first sign this petition and get all your friends to sign it and I need it back by friday be cause this is important. Not totally unbelievable. I remember when I was passionate about something as a child I practically could get my parents to do anything. They bought a lot of donuts and candy that I couldn't sell for band for example. It will be difficult during the holiday season to get any of this out as the media doesn't want to harm the needless spending spree. I am going to try to start and branch here in Hollywood Florida as soon as I do I am going to look to see what I can do to make this a college student project. How wonderful if they could learn at this age about the ability they have to change something so evil. This would be priceless experience and maybe they could shake up congress at the same time. This would have to be organized so that we can get this ready to go after the holiday. I think this could work, but we need a lot of help to reach around the country and possibly a big name to get it all started. I know it's a tall order, but I think that it is worth every bead of sweat and tear. All feedback is welcome as I am new at this. We need to share ideas and make something happen as soon as possible. Have a wonderful day all you wonderful, compassionate people.

Hello Michael,
I sense the huge frustration that you are feeling and believe me those of us who DO know about this horrific thing, are equally as frustrated and dare I say, FRANTIC to get the message spread around.
I too, believe that once decent people all over the world see for themselves, they will be incited into doing whatever it takes to put an end to this.
Like you, I have written to every newspaper, every politician, every person I know and given them the link to the Video. Beyond that I don't know where to turn.
You'd think that in this day of technology, it would be easy to get this message across but it seems that about 99% don't have a clue.
If we could somehow get a "big name" person in any/all countries to actually see for themselves, then maybe we could begin to win this battle! I believe that some time back Dave Letterman(?) of the USA was "gutsy" enough to air these unbelievable facts but I am not sure to what avail?
There are so many organisations as you mentioned who are trying to get something positive done but it seems to me that in each and every country which has thus far moved to "ban" fur products(cat & Dog), the labelling issue has NEVER been address .. and that certainly applies to us here in Australia..
I have no doubt that given the underhanded measures the chinese employ to disguise these products, that they are very much being sold in retail shops across the world!
It is sickening to realise that as we(those of who know) try to come with some ideas, thousands of these beautiful animals continue to suffer unbelievably dreadful lives and horrendous deaths!
If I had one wish in this life, it would be to save each and every one of the millions of animals, and I know I am not alone in that thought.
I feel helpless, sad and guilty at not being able to end their pain.

(continued from above, it wouldn't let me post in one comment)
This video seems to indicate that unlabeled raccoon dog fur is pretty easy to find in New York. I figure mislabled/unlabled dog and cat fur is all over the US since "China supplies more than half of the finished fur garments imported for sale in the United States".
Another problem has been real fur, sometimes cat and dog fur from China, being sold as "faux" fur.
<a href="http://www.hsus.org/furfree/news/press_releases/burlington_coat_factory_dupes.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.hsus.org/furfree/news/press_releases/burlington_coat_factory_dupes.html</a>

That said, what is being done at this point? It's not like nobody knows about this. There's over a million people on the Facebook page, and I know you guys have a ton of signatures here. But even after the 2005 Swiss Animal Protection/EAST International report, it still seems like relatively few people know about this. Considering the huge scale of this horrible tragedy, you would think this would be on everyone's mind. The world needs to know what's happening on these Chinese fur farms and see the pictures and video. Until enough people start making noise, nothing will change. So what will it take for that to happen? I personally can't do it. I could email an op-ed article to every newspaper in the US. I could send a letter to every politician. But beyond that, I don't know. The media has to get a hold of it somehow. I refuse to believe that people won't act once they know about this and see the videos.

Btw, here's an interesting link about that 2005 SAP/EI investigation in case you wanted more info on it:

I've been doing some research and it seems this issue was first brought to light about 12 years ago. In 1997-98, The Humane Society of the US (HSUS) conducted an undercover investigation of dogs used in fur farming in Asia. If you go to the HS website you can read about it:
<a href="http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/dogs_cats_fur/" rel="nofollow">http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/dogs_cats_fur/</a>
Around the same time, Burlington Coat Factory (a large coat retailer in the US) was found to be openly selling fur-trimmed garments labeled as "Mongolia dog fur". The US banned dog and cat fur two years later. In 2008, a loophole in which any fur garment being sold for less than $150 did not require labeling was finally closed. But many fur products still don't get labeled. See this video:
<a href="http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/campaigns/fur_free/" rel="nofollow">http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/campaigns/fur_free/</a>

Joanne, thanks for your response. I live in the US where people treat their cats and dogs better than humans and, as far as I can tell, there's not too much public awareness of this crisis. There is a government ban on dog and cat fur though. Here's a link I found regarding the fur policies of different countries:
<a href="http://www.hsus.org/furfree/dogs_cats/betrayal/dog_and_cat_fur_aftermath.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.hsus.org/furfree/dogs_cats/betrayal/dog_and_cat_fur_aftermath.html</a>
I think the EU banned it recently and of course you mentioned Australia. But none of this does any good if the fur is mislabeled or not labeled at all.
